1, 1924. Dr. Rodolfo Arce served as the pediatrician, and a few years later, pediatricians Edgardo Burgos and Pedro Vasco Nuñez joined the team. In 1939, Dr. Rodolfo Arce presented the proposal to the Lions Club of Panama to build a hospital entirely dedicated to children.

In February 1947, Lions Club President Pablo Durán appointed an Executive Committee and a Special Fundraising Committee to initiate the campaign for the Panama Children's Hospital. The Executive Committee was chaired by Lion Raúl Rubio and comprised Lions Vicente Pascual, Pablo Durán, Gustavo Trius, Enoch Adames, Gonzalo Sosa, Leopoldo Benedetti, and Pedro Vasco Núñez. To keep the public informed, a large thermometer was placed in Santa Ana Park, with the sum of 250,000 balboas painted on the top. This figure was sought to provide an equipped building ready for immediate use for children.
