The task of the Gottsegen György National Cardiovascular Institute is to provide complex cardiovascular examination and non-invasive, invasive therapy of the entire spectrum of cardiovascular diseases in both children and adults in the fields of interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiac surgery and heart transplantation, as well as vascular surgery. A key task is the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and the monitoring of cardiological diseases. The Institute serves an average of 9,000 inpatients and 90,500 outpatients annually in 275 beds and 28 specialized outpatient clinics.

In order to ensure the effectiveness of curative and preventive inpatient and outpatient specialist care and cardiological rehabilitation, the Institute uses modern medical methods that aim to achieve the best possible physical, mental and social condition for people with heart disease or acute heart disease, so that they can maintain or restore their previous position in society.

In the field of professional operation, the institute conducts scientific research on professional and methodological issues, and participates in undergraduate and postgraduate medical training, as well as in healthcare vocational training and continuing education.
