I was brought into the ER on Feb 11th after a fall while hiking on vacation on the Big Island. After numerous scans and X-rays it was determined that I had dislocated my elbow and broke the joint. I want to say thank you to the excellent ER staff and especially Nurse Mike. It was determined I needed surgery that evening. I want to thank Dr. Tucker, Dr Darrin Z. And Dr Bellino. The care I got was excellent.

This was my first time going to Queen’s North Hawai’i Community Hospital as a patient. Check in for surgery was smooth. The kiosk was down, but the kind lady at the front checked me in quickly and showed us to the Ohana room. Shortly there after I was called back to get checked in and not even 10 minutes later I was heading back to prep for surgery. Nurse Dana was super sweet and helped with any anxieties that I had and made sure I kept warm with blankets. She helped to calm my nerves and was very thorough with doing intake process. . The anesthesiologist, Dr. Peters went over all the procedure of what they would do to do a nerve block and gave me a great relaxer to calm me before I was wheeled back to the OR. My OR team of Moani and Jessica were great for the short amount of time that I remember seeing them before drifting off to sleep before surgery. Kalina, my PACU nurse was a pleasant smiling face to wake up to. She made sure I was hydrated and got some juice before helping me to get dressed to be discharged. Overall a very good experience and friendly staff everywhere.
