University Hospital – St. Michael's Hospital, as (UN – NsM) is a healthcare facility with nationwide coverage focused on providing comprehensive healthcare in the scope of inpatient, outpatient and day healthcare, joint investigation and treatment units, intensive healthcare, central operating rooms and relevant medical services. UN – NsM provides, among other things, specific healthcare pursuant to Act No. 73/1998 Coll. on the civil service of members of the Police Corps, the Slovak Information Service, the Prison and Judicial Guard Corps of the Slovak Republic and the Railway Police, as amended, and Act No. 315/2001 Coll. on the Fire and Rescue Corps, as amended, and specific healthcare pursuant to Section 123 of Act No. 281/2015 Coll. on the civil service of professional soldiers and on amendments and supplements to certain acts, as amended.

UN – NsM is the successor to the tradition of the hospital of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic on Fraňa Kráľa Street and the Military Hospital of the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic, whose merger in 2009 created the hospital's current form. In 2019, it expanded to provide healthcare in Košice, through the merger of UN – NsM and the former Letecká vojenská nemocnice, as in Košice.

UN – NsM provides institutional health care and one-day health care at its workplaces in Bratislava on Satinského Street and in Košice on Murgašová Street. Outpatient health care is provided in addition to the headquarters in Bratislava and the operation in Košice, also at other dislocated workplaces throughout Slovakia. UN – NsM provides comprehensive health care in 15 departments, while in the field of neurosurgery it is a terminal facility with nationwide coverage. UN
