The first Hungarian health demonstration project was established in Gödöllő in 1927  , based on American experiences and supported by the Rockefeller Foundation.

In 1930, the  Gödöllő District Health Service headquarters ,  the District Health House , was inaugurated, which  housed the district medical officer's office, health advice ,  X-ray examination ,  shower baths , as  well  as the dentist and  school dentistry . Later, the Gödöllő ambulance station began its work here, as well as a first aid station providing emergency care. In the fifties, the "ancestor" of our Institution,  the  Municipal and District Clinic , was established in this building  .

In 1972, the Institute received a new building (current building I, Petőfi S. u. 1-3), where the specialized care is still available today. From then on, the name of the Institute was changed to  Gödöllői Egyesített Egészségügyi Intézet ,  which  was renamed “Tormay Károly Egészségügyi Központ” on 1 January 2000 in honor of the doctor who played a significant role in the military health history of the city of Gödöllő   .
