Experience

Dr. Francois Pretorius is an experienced General Practitioner with specialist skills in obstetrics, skin care, paediatrics, and emergency medicine. He began his career in South Africa, graduating with his MBBS from the University of Stellenbosch in 1997. In 2003, he moved to Australia, where he took up a partnership in a general practice in Victoria.

In 2013, Dr. Pretorius relocated to Queensland, where he worked across general practice and various hospitals, continuously building on his clinical skills. He later became the Director of Medical Services of the Central West Health Service, Medical Director of the Townsville Rural Hospitals Group, and eventually the Medical Superintendent of Charters Towers Hospital. With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Pretorius has developed an extensive understanding of rural and emergency healthcare, as well as a deep commitment to patient-centered care.

Dr. Pretorius is currently accepting new patients and is a privately billing GP, which includes concession card holders.
