Dr Sanjaya Kapuwatte

Dr. Sanjaya Kapuwatte has over 10 years of experience in general family medicine, orthopaedics, and minor surgical procedures. He completed his MBBS from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 2010, before specializing in Orthopaedics at the University of Melbourne, where he completed his Master of Surgery in Orthopaedics in 2016.

Dr. Kapuwatte has worked in public hospitals, private clinics, and rural healthcare settings, gaining experience in musculoskeletal disorders, orthopaedic surgery, and minor surgical procedures. He has a particular interest in treating musculoskeletal injuries, joint replacements, sports-related injuries, and providing rehabilitation for patients recovering from orthopaedic surgery.

In 2020, Dr. Kapuwatte moved to Bathurst to continue his practice, where he provides comprehensive care to his patients, specializing in minor surgeries, orthopaedics, and general family medicine. His approach focuses on patient education, preventative care, and early intervention in treating common orthopaedic and muscular conditions.

Dr. Kapuwatte has been involved in research related to musculoskeletal health, orthopaedic surgery, and rehabilitation. His primary research interests include sports medicine, muscular injuries, joint health, and surgical recovery. He has worked on projects investigating the effectiveness of minimally invasive surgeries in treating orthopaedic injuries and musculoskeletal disorders.

He has also contributed to studies on the rehabilitation process after joint replacement surgeries and the impact of physical therapy in post-operative recovery. Dr. Kapuwatte’s research aims to improve treatment outcomes for patients with musculoskeletal issues and orthopaedic conditions and to reduce recovery times for those undergoing surgical procedures.
