Dr. Thashila Gunawardana is an experienced Australian-trained Radiologist with over 15 years of experience in diagnostic and interventional radiology. After completing her MBBS at the University of Colombo, Dr. Gunawardana undertook her radiology training in Perth through the Western Australian Radiology Training network (W.A.R.T.), with placements at Royal Perth Hospital, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital, and Perth Children's Hospital.
Following this, Dr. Gunawardana pursued specialized fellowship training in Breast Radiology and Body Imaging at Royal Perth Hospital and completed a visiting fellowship at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York, USA, gaining expertise in advanced breast imaging and interventional techniques.
Dr. Gunawardana’s practice covers general diagnostic radiology, musculoskeletal injections, nerve root injections, superficial organ biopsies, and breast imaging including ultrasound-guided, stereotactic-guided, and MRI-guided breast biopsies.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Gunawardana has served in clinical governance roles, including on the Clinical Council (H.I.S.) and Quality Assurance teams, and she is actively involved in expanding Breast Services across Western Australia.
