Dr. Alex Barnes

Dr. Alex Barnes has 11 years of experience in gastroenterology, having completed his MBBS in 2010 from the University of Sydney and his FRACP (Gastroenterology) in 2017. After completing his medical degree, Dr. Barnes worked as an intern and resident at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he gained experience in general medicine and gastroenterology.

Dr. Barnes specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), hepatitis B and C, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). He is proficient in performing endoscopic procedures including esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) and colonoscopy. His other areas of expertise include celiac disease and the management of liver diseases.

Since relocating to Wagga Wagga in 2019, Dr. Barnes has been providing comprehensive gastrointestinal care to the local community. His services include routine screenings, diagnostic endoscopy, and management of chronic gastrointestinal conditions.

Dr. Barnes has been actively involved in gastroenterology research, particularly in the areas of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and hepatitis management. His research has focused on new therapeutic approaches for IBD, advances in the management of chronic liver diseases, and improvements in endoscopic techniques. Dr. Barnes has published articles in gastroenterology journals related to IBD management and liver disease treatments.
