Dr. Saia Ma’u Piukala

Dr. Saia Ma’u Piukala has 25 years of experience in Surgery. After completing his medical degree at the University of Otago in 1997, Dr. Piukala specialized in Surgery in 2003. He has since worked in Tonga and New Zealand, where he has treated numerous patients in both emergency and elective surgical settings. Dr. Piukala’s areas of expertise include trauma surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, orthopedic surgery, and abdominal procedures.

Dr. Piukala is well-known for performing life-saving surgeries in trauma situations, as well as routine procedures such as hernia repairs, gallbladder surgeries, and appendectomies. His extensive experience has made him a key figure in improving surgical outcomes and patient recovery in Tonga.

Dr. Piukala has been involved in research focusing on trauma surgery, surgical recovery, and gastrointestinal diseases. His research interests include improving post-operative care, reducing complications, and advancing surgical techniques. Dr. Piukala has contributed to clinical studies on trauma management and pediatric surgery, improving surgical protocols in emergency care.
