Akita Red Cross Hospital was established in 1914 as the first Red Cross hospital in the Hokkaido and Tohoku region. The current hospital is the fourth generation. The hospital provides highly specialized medical care, with functions such as the Akita Prefecture policy medical emergency center, the general perinatal maternal and child medical center, and the neurological disease center, as well as a regional cancer treatment coordination center, a kidney center, an artificial joint center, a vaccination center, a gastroenterological disease center, and a gene therapy center.

　Akita Prefecture, where our hospital is located, is experiencing a rapid decline in population, a declining birthrate and an aging population. In addition, due to issues such as a shortage of doctors and uneven distribution of medical departments, the reorganization of secondary medical care areas and the division and consolidation of hospital functions are being considered within the regional medical plan. As a core hospital in the region, we believe that our role and mission is to provide emergency medical care without refusing patients as our basic policy, and to expand hospital-clinic and hospital-hospital collaboration as a regional medical support hospital. We will also actively participate in enhancing the functions of each of the centers mentioned above and disaster relief activities, which is the mission of the Red Cross Society.
