The Cartago Health Area is the primary administrative and operational unit of the CCSS responsible for delivering comprehensive primary healthcare to the population of Cartago. It coordinates a network of EBAIS (Basic Teams for Comprehensive Health Care), which are multidisciplinary teams that provide general medicine, preventive care, maternal and child health, vaccinations, health education, and chronic disease management. The Health Area ensures accessible, continuous, and high-quality care for all residents, with a strong focus on prevention, early diagnosis, and community health promotion.
