Founded in 1950 and named after French bacteriologist Albert Calmette, it operates under Cambodia’s Ministry of Health, with historical and ongoing support from the French government. Calmette serves as a national and teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Health Sciences, offering comprehensive and continuous medical services to the population of Phnom Penh, nearby provinces, and international patients.
