We are a Social Enterprise of the State University of Atlántico as a decentralized public entity of special category, at the departmental level, endowed with legal personality, its own assets, and administrative autonomy, attached to the Departmental Health Secretariat of Atlántico, a member of the General Social Security System in Health.

The importance of the public health system lies not only in effective access to health services, but also in the ability of governments, territorial administrations, and institutional managers to correct market failures with asymmetries and misaligned incentives. This is the result of a young health system that, like the country itself, must constantly address challenges in equity and efficiency, expressed in: public health challenges, rising accident rates, technological obsolescence, socioeconomic crises with health impacts, and limitations in financing investment and operations, just like the rest of the world.
