Kalos is a leading special hospital for medical rehabilitation, established in 1972 in Vela Luka, on the island of Korčula. Originally founded as a spa and rehabilitation institute, it became an autonomous health institution in 1978 and was officially designated as a special hospital for medical rehabilitation in 1994. The hospital is renowned for its use of natural healing factors—specifically, mineral peloid mud and thermal, radon-rich water from the local cove. Kalos serves both Croatian Institute for Health Insurance (CIHI) beneficiaries and self-paying patients, including health tourists and groups from neighboring countries. The hospital is currently undergoing a major €8.44 million upgrade to further develop its spa, wellness, and medical tourism facilities
