The first Hospital in Cegléd began operating in the “Red Ox” inn building next to Pesti Street in 1873 with 23 beds. The hospital’s founding letter mentions the name Czegléd City Nursing Home.
In 1929, construction of a new city public hospital began on Törteli Street, by transforming the military hospital that had once operated here and erecting new buildings. Patients from the old hospital arrived here on March 27, 1930. Under the direction of director Dr. Ferenc Gombos, surgery, internal medicine, X-ray and a laboratory operated in the new hospital.
The first "integration" took place on January 1, 1933, with the merger of Törteli út and the Maternity Hospital. The first chief physician of the merged hospital was Dr. Dénes Gombos, an obstetrician-gynecologist.
