The first Hospital in Cegléd began operating in the “Red Ox” inn building next to Pesti Street in 1873 with 23 beds. The hospital’s founding letter mentions the name Czegléd City Nursing Home.
In 1929, construction of a new city public hospital began on Törteli Street, by transforming the military hospital that had once operated here and erecting new buildings. Patients from the old hospital arrived here on March 27, 1930. Under the direction of director Dr. Ferenc Gombos, surgery, internal medicine, X-ray and a laboratory operated in the new hospital.
The first "integration" took place on January 1, 1933, with the merger of Törteli út and the Maternity Hospital. The first chief physician of the merged hospital was Dr. Dénes Gombos, an obstetrician-gynecologist.

I would like to express my gratitude to the staff of the Intensive Care and Surgical Departments of the Toldy Ferenc Hospital. Let's not only advertise the bad, let's also tell them the good. The work that they do with a smile and kindness. Unfortunately, I was admitted to the hospital on May 14, I spent 10 days there, but what I experienced there was very pleasant for me. The nurses who work beyond their strength, both in the intensive care and surgical departments, are patient, kind, and pay attention to everything. Well, I can honestly say that I would not be able to do even a fraction of what the nurses do there during a shift, they perform beyond their strength. I am very sorry that our dear state does not manage to pay them properly. From the bottom of my heart, I wish them strength, health, and endurance! Thank you!— I am grateful to you for all that you do there with all your heart for their recovery.

On 15.02.2025, we had to take my father to the SBO in Cegléd, with severe abdominal pain. In general, he had been feeling very ill for days. At the SBO, the Triage room was quickly attended, a very nice lady took the medical history. We had to wait at least an hour for the examination, but after that the doctor carefully examined him and took blood, an EKG, and an infusion. Later, other tests were also carried out, and he was discharged home with medication. Although we were there from 13:00 to 19:00, during this time the workers there were kind and helpful and fair. Thank you for your hard work!
