Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL) is the largest and most comprehensive public hospital in Luxembourg City, established by law in 1975. It unifies the Grand Duchess Charlotte maternity ward, the Grand Duke Jean and Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte Foundation pediatric clinic, and the Municipal Hospital under one organization, with the addition of CHL Eich in 2003. CHL is the closest thing Luxembourg has to a “national hospital,” offering a full spectrum of care, including general medicine, surgery, emergency, maternity, pediatrics, and multiple specialized services. It is a hub for research, teaching, and innovation, and is the 10th largest employer in Luxembourg with over 2,000 staff, including around 300 doctors and 1,000 nurses and caregivers. CHL handles about 29,000 admissions and 280,000 outpatient visits annually.
