The parent organization started its journey in the year 1979 as Chattogram Shishu Hospital. This was a humble beginning, which gathered momentum with the commitment and sincere efforts of people from all walks of life. A group of social workers of Chittagong started the hospital in an unfinished dilapidated government building in Agrabad with permission of the Ministry of Health and family welfare.The small out patient’s services with one part time honorary medical officer on deputation from Chittagong medical college & three honorary paediatric consultant. The whole of the two storied building were later given to the organization step by step (each floor containing a floor space of 91,000 sqft). Shishu Hospital was completed 1988 and maternity services were added to the hospital in 1994 with a capacity of 150 beds. At this time the Hospital was named as “Chattogram Maa-O- Shishu Hospital”.
At present it is a 650-bedded hospital, which includes Paediatrics Medicine, Neonatology, Pediatric Surgery, General surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Medicine & it's sub-specialists. The outpatient services is extended to consultancy, pharmacy, family planning, mother care, EPI (Expended Programmed for Immunization) and Physical Medicine all types of pediatric care. The other services include medicine surgery, Orthopedics Surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, dentistry, Dermatology, Psychiatry and a highly specialized Child Development Clinic for retarded and handicapped children and adult medicine. The average attendance in the OPD is 1000-1500 patients daily. Besides the Emergency Medical Unit (AMU) services already started.
