Established in the early 20th century, Dar El-Salam Hospital is one of Egypt's oldest medical institutions. In 2017, it transitioned into a specialized cancer treatment center. In March 2024, the Egyptian Cabinet approved plans to transform it into the first international branch of France's renowned Gustave Roussy Institute of Oncology, aiming to enhance cancer care services and reduce the need for patients to seek treatment abroad
