Established in 1961 by Sheikh Fazal Elahi as a charitable trust, DHQ Hospital Chiniot began as a free medical care center. In 1979, the Government of Punjab took over, converting it into a Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital. By 2009, it was upgraded to a District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, serving as the primary public healthcare facility for Chiniot District.
