Established in 1845 by the Maharaja of Cochin, Ernakulam General Hospital is Kerala’s largest and most well-equipped government hospital, now with 783 beds. It is a pioneer in public healthcare, offering advanced super specialty services in cardiology, nephrology, urology, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, and more. The hospital is a referral centre for the region, performing complex procedures like open heart surgery, kidney transplant, and laparoscopic cancer surgeries. It is renowned for its affordable, accessible care, especially for the economically disadvantaged, and is a model for quality, innovation, and community service in the public sector. The hospital is currently preparing to launch Kerala’s first district-level heart transplant program.

Hospital Beds & Infrastructure

Went on a weekday afternoon, hence was not crowded. The area looked really developed, neat and the services are free/ at reduced prices. However only general physicians were there during that time ,and they couldn't identify the exact reason for the symptoms.----Arthana A.C
