About Us
The first hospital in Bulgaria was a charity hospital established in Varna, funded by the benefactor Paraskeva Nicolau. Construction began after Nicolau’s will in 1858, and the hospital officially opened its doors in 1869. This institution was designed to provide free medical care to orphans, the poor, the ill, and the elderly, regardless of religion, nationality, or gender. It included a pharmacy, a house for the doctor and staff, and a small park for patients.
