The Florida Department of Health (DOH) is the state's primary health agency, dedicated to protecting, promoting, and improving the health of all Floridians through integrated state, county, and community efforts. Established in 1996, its origins trace back to 1888 with the creation of the Florida State Board of Health. The DOH operates 67 county health departments and employs over 17,000 individuals statewide. ​
