The old hospital facilities were completely renovated in 1969, and since then, the rehabilitation and dialysis buildings have been expanded and renovated as needed. However, the hospital facilities and medical equipment have deteriorated, and the entire facility, including the parking lot, has become significantly cramped. In addition, it has become difficult to provide medical care that meets the modernization and sophistication of medical care and the diversifying needs of patients. Due to the need to provide advanced, cutting-edge medical services to the local community, a complete reconstruction of the hospital began in December 2002, and the hospital was renamed "Fukagawa Municipal Hospital" and reopened on June 1, 2005.

The current hospital was constructed based on the concept of "a hospital that values ​​people's feelings" so that it would be loved and familiar to the local community, and was completed as originally planned, with a harmonious balance of livability, functionality, safety, and economy, and with the aim of creating a "healing environment" based on the keywords of comfort, brightness, interaction, and compassion.
