About Us :

Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta is a state-operated facility under the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. Located on 174 acres in DeKalb County, the hospital operates 334 licensed inpatient beds across three major program areas:

Adult Mental Health Program: Includes three inpatient units totaling 114 beds, serving adults with various psychiatric diagnoses.
Forensic Services Program: Comprises three medium-secure inpatient units totaling 124 beds, serving adults deemed Incompetent to Stand Trial or Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity.
Developmental Disabilities Program: Features one Skilled Nursing Unit with a current census of 29, serving individuals with profound to severe developmental disabilities and medical needs requiring skilled nursing care.

The hospital collaborates with the Region 3 Field Office and community providers to ensure continuity of care and support individuals in retaining the gains achieved during hospitalization. GRHA serves a large number of indigent and homeless individuals, with no one refused admission due to an inability to pay for services.
