The Grand Duchess Charlotte Maternity Hospital, named after Charlotte, Grand Duchess of Luxembourg (reigned 1919–1964), was established in 1936 under the leadership of Dr. M. Bohler and the Luxembourg Red Cross. It became part of the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg in 1975, together with the Pediatric Clinic and the Municipal Hospital. The hospital has a long tradition of pioneering maternity care in Luxembourg, introducing the first incubator in 1951 and expanding services with gynecology and childbirth medical gymnastics units by the mid-20th century. In 2015, a new state-of-the-art maternity building was inaugurated, designed to combine comfort, safety, and advanced medical technology, physically connected to the pediatric clinic (KannerKlinik) to optimize mother-child care.
