The principal is the Gabriel Foundation, with its own board. The foundation's purpose is to offer specialized palliative care in such a way that the person's physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs are met. The care is run on a non-profit basis.
The hospice has 8 beds and offers palliative care in the course of the disease when no curative care is possible. Hospice Gabriel also offers care in the early palliative stage for people in need of temporary care, to help with symptom relief. The guest makes their own application to come to Hospice Gabriel. The responsible doctor writes a referral. A specialist nurse can, upon referral to Hospice Gabriel, receive people in need of tactile massage.
Hospice Gabriel's turnover is 17 million kronor per year. We have agreements with the Health and Medical Services Board and Lidköping Municipality that support the operation, despite this, our costs are not fully covered. For this reason, we are very grateful to all private donors who support our fine operation.
In addition to care, Hospice Gabriel also provides training, advice and support to doctors and nurses within county council and municipal operations.
Students at different levels receive internships and supervision here. We also welcome study visits with groups from different nursing education programs. Every year we organize a well-attended Palliative Conference in Vara Concert Hall.
