The meeting was held at the home of Don Nicolás de Teresa, at 10 Compañía Street, and "Despite the 22 attendees, it was considered that, with respect to the Spanish residents of this city, they formed a majority, since several of them were empowered to vote by many of those absent." From this memorable meeting, the current "Spanish Charity Society of Puebla" was born, whose first President was Don Domingo Gómez de Rueda.

The first beneficiary of the brand-new Society was the Spaniard Don Domingo Ipiña, who was demented and abandoned at the Mesón de San Francisco Gerónimo in this city. The aid provided consisted of a daily allowance of four reales (October 1861). The second charitable work carried out by the Society was to cover the burial expenses of fellow countryman Don Lorenzo Gómez. (March 1862) The third aid was granted to the demented Spaniard Don José María García, who went to Veracruz and from there to Havana, where he apparently had relatives. (November 1862)
