CEJAM - Center for Studies and Research “Dr. João Amorim” is a non-profit organization founded on May 20, 1991 by a group of doctors, lawyers and health professionals from the Pérola Byington Hospital - Reference Center for Women's Health and Nutrition, Food and Child Development - CRSMNADI to support that Institution.

Its name is a tribute to Dr. João Amorim, an obstetrician, one of its founders and 1st Clinical Director of Hospital Pérola Byington, with extensive experience in health administration.

With the motto “Prevention is Living with Quality”, the Institution is qualified as a Social Organization (OSS), in several municipalities, and recognized for its experience in the management of health services, acting through management contracts and agreements in partnership with the Public Authorities.
