Hospital Regional João Penido (HRJP) is a public healthcare institution serving 94 municipalities in the Southeast macro-region of Minas Gerais. It operates 24/7 and provides secondary (specialized consultations) and tertiary (hospitalizations) care, with all services fully funded by the Brazilian public health system (SUS). Founded in 1950, HRJP has evolved from a tuberculosis sanatorium into a general and regional hospital, becoming a reference for infectious diseases, high-risk pregnancies, and physical rehabilitation. The hospital is managed by Fhemig (Fundação Hospitalar do Estado de Minas Gerais).
