Hospital Dra. Rita de Cássia was born from the vision of dedicated citizens in the 1970s who united to create a philanthropic hospital society to serve the underprivileged population of Barra de São Francisco. Officially inaugurated on December 3, 1973, the hospital has evolved through the decades, expanding its facilities and services to become a vital healthcare provider in the region. It was named in honor of Drª Rita de Cássia Melgaço, a dedicated staff member who lost her life in a car accident, and today it stands as a symbol of community commitment and public health excellence
