Over the past ten years, the progress of Medellín General Hospital has been significant. Today, it provides healthcare services in two modern earthquake-resistant towers with 442 inpatient beds and a variety of specialties. It also provides intermediate care, critical care for adults, pediatrics, and neonatal care.
The Hospital provides 24-hour emergency care, providing comprehensive care for adults, obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics, with ongoing availability for all basic and highly complex specialties.
The surgical department has eight modern, fully equipped operating rooms with cutting-edge technology and highly trained and qualified staff to perform medium- and high-complexity surgeries in a timely manner, 24 hours a day.
The gynecology-obstetrics service, which was its initial reason for existence, remains active with a spacious delivery room with 10 individual cubicles, each equipped with advanced technology for continuous monitoring of the mother and baby.
The Imaging Department provides radiology, ultrasound, electrodiagnostic, and endoscopy services, performing examinations such as CT scans, mammograms, ultrasounds, arteriograms, spirometry, colonoscopies, and various cardiovascular diagnostic tests, among other highly specialized procedures.
Its support services include a blood bank, a human milk bank, a clinical and pathology laboratory, a pharmacy, an enteral and parenteral mixing center, a sterilization center, and a metrology laboratory. Today, it is a hospital committed to teaching and research. For 68 years, the Volunteer Ladies Corporation has supported us with their caregiving work.
