1. I was worried about the reviews prior and needed to comment to clarify. Yes, this is a cash based hospital. My son hurt his hand playing beach football and we needed an X-ray to determine if it was fractured vs soft tissue injury. No urgent cares in this area have X-ray machines besides hospitals.
I was prepared for the cash credit card hold of $5000 PESOS, not USD. No one was in the waiting room, we were taken within 5 minutes and objective story were taken. MD came in and did a thorough exam. We had an X-ray taken and assured no fracture. Bill was $4409 PESOS - about $250.
I did take out Alliance travel insurance, which I called in advance of hospital visit, and claims to have only a $50 deductible. We’ll see how that goes. TBD, if I get reimbursed. Medical care was great, reasonable and satisfactory.
2. Went to H+ for a potential broken hand. American tourist. everyone spoke english and was kind. they had us give a 5k peso security deposit. I got a doctor consult, x ray scan, and prescription all within 30 mins. It ended up costing 4,408 pesos, so the other 592 pesos was refunded.
