Construction began in 1991, and the institution's doors were not opened to the public until October 1993, with Dr. Gabriel Cortés taking over as its General Director.

In 1996, Dr. Arturo Sánchez Tejeda took over as General Manager, achieving gradual growth in medical care and services, increasing the number of patients treated at the institution year after year.

In 2014, due to the unfortunate loss of Dr. Arturo Sánchez Tejeda, Dr. Rafael González Jiménez became General Director and remains in office to this day.
