Hospital Intercommunal de Steinfort (HIS) is a specialized healthcare facility with a long history dating back to 1957. It was established to improve medical care in the region, originally in the renovated Collart family château. Today, HIS is managed by a syndicate of communes (Steinfort, Hobscheid, Koerich, Garnich, Saeul) and comprises three main departments:

• Geriatric Functional Rehabilitation Service: Provides rehabilitation to individuals with physical impairments following illness or trauma, aiming for a return home.

• Maison de Soins: Offers interdisciplinary, professional care for 52 residents with loss of autonomy, including those with cognitive disorders, for both day and night stays.

• Psycho-Geriatric Day Center: Welcomes 12 elderly people with loss of autonomy and 12 with cognitive or physical impairments for daytime care in a warm, supportive environment.

The hospital currently operates with 57 beds, an operating room, radiology service, and laboratory. Since the 1970s, it has specialized in rehabilitation and geriatric care, closely collaborating with Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg. In the 1990s, the focus shifted to long-term and rehabilitation care, reducing acute care beds and expanding long-stay capacity
