The General Hospital in the Northern Mountainous Region of Quang Nam is a key healthcare provider for residents in the remote and mountainous districts of northern Quang Nam. The hospital plays a vital role in delivering both preventive and curative services, especially for infectious diseases and tuberculosis, and is a frontline institution during public health emergencies such as the COVID-19 pandemic. It faces challenges common to rural hospitals, including staffing shortages and the need for ongoing equipment upgrades

The hospital serves a high patient volume, with the outpatient department seeing 800–900 patients per day, and up to 1,200 at peak times. It has received donations of modern medical equipment to support both routine care and pandemic response, including endotracheal tubes with camera, electric injection pumps, blood glucose meters, aerosol machines, aspirators, blood pressure monitors, and a 6-channel electrocardiograph. Despite these improvements, the hospital continues to face challenges in recruiting and retaining doctors due to difficult working conditions and remote location
