As Our Lady of Guadalupe Hospital, the company began operations in 2004, with the precedent of the Guadalupe Clinic, with more than 40 years of service.
In the 1960s, Dr. César Augusto Calderón Vidal founded the “Elsa Guadalupe Clinic” as an alternative private health services for Tabasco residents.
The clinic's concept included two consulting rooms, one operating room, and six inpatient wards, all in one space. A place for patients and physicians of any specialty (mostly surgeons and general practitioners) to hospitalize and perform surgical procedures on their patients.
In response to public demands, the Elsa Guadalupe Clinic underwent several modifications to its physical structure. As it was not a building designed for hospital use, it was necessary to adapt it to meet operational needs.
In Dr. Calderón Vidal's vision, it was essential to be at the forefront of medical diagnostic equipment, so in 1985, the first computed axial tomography machine was purchased, and in 1986, the doors to intensive care were opened.
Once the demand for services was exceeded and the specialties of the doctors who hospitalized patients in the clinic became diversified, it was necessary to have a company that would be in charge of the administrative management of the clinic. Thus, in 1993, the company called Especialidades Medicas Médicas de Tabasco SA de CV was founded. Its shareholders were the children of Dr. Calderón Vidal. From that year until today, Especialidades Médicas de Tabasco has taken over the operation of the clinic, which changed its name and registered its name and logo with the Mexican Institute of Intellectual Property.
