Founded as part of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the May Revolution of 1810, the hospital was built in several stages and acquired its present form much later. It shares a large area with the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario and serves the north and north-west parts of Rosario as well as neighboring towns.
