The Hôpital Saint Camille de Djougou is a specialized center dedicated to psychiatric care, counseling, and the social reintegration of people experiencing mental illness. Opened in February 2011, it is one of the few dedicated mental health facilities in northern Benin and serves both the local as well as broader cross-border populations. The center prioritizes restoring dignity and freedom to patients through comprehensive medical and social support.

Patients are admitted for variable durations (ranging from weeks to several years), depending on their situation and therapeutic needs. Recovered patients often take on supportive roles within the center, contributing to rehabilitation, management, and peer support for current residents. This approach fosters a self-sustaining, humane environment and facilitates eventual reintegration into society.
