Hôpital Dr. Bensmaine Boumediene is Mostaganem’s principal university hospital (CHU), named in honor of Dr. Bensmaine Boumediene, a physician and prominent figure in Algeria’s fight for independence. The hospital, established as a CHU by official decree in 2021, was developed to strengthen specialized medical care and academic training in the region. It unites existing facilities—including the regional hospital, psychiatric hospital, and mother-and-child clinic—into a single advanced healthcare hub.
