Ibn Sina Hospital was established in 1964 by Iraqi doctors as one of the first private hospitals in Baghdad, providing distinguished medical services at the time. In 1974, the hospital was seized by the former regime, the land and facilities were confiscated, and its services were provided to the symbols of the ruling authority. In 2003, after the fall of the former regime, coalition forces took over the hospital, and it became administered by them, providing its services to coalition forces and their supporting formations.
The hospital was received in 2010 by the Ministry of Health and began providing very limited medical services due to the limited staff working there and the modest infrastructure and medical equipment available at the time. The hospital’s progress process began in 2010 and has continued up to the present time. This progress has included rebuilding and developing the infrastructure, working to integrate the staff and providing them with the latest medical equipment and supplies, expanding and diversifying its medical services to include the recruitment of foreign medical teams, opening medical centers with precise specialties, and expanding the community groups benefiting from the hospital’s services to achieve the desired goal of becoming an advanced medical and training edifice that provides quality and distinguished services
