I crushed my finger with a car door. A day later the finger got inflamed and it was hard to move it from the inflamation. I wasn't sure if my trauma could be treated by a primary doctor or if it was an emergency room issue. After 3.5 hours at and around the primary doctor office, I figured out it was an emergency and that ER would help. They did! Waiting is part of the experience - I did not have a 911 call. A brief chat with a triage nurse happened as soon as I walked it. My vitals were taken immediately. After 60-90 minutes I was taken into an exam room. Doctor ruled out fractures and more serious injurious. PA drained the blood that caused most of the pain. I felt a lot better. I had educational materials and suggestions for follow up medical care. It wasn't a waste of time to go to a primary doctor with a crushed finger, but ER was a more efficient resource.

I arrived around 10:30am on a Friday morning...was admitted to a room within 5 minutes. I received OUTSTANDING care from start to finish. NP that oversaw my situation was excellent. Nursing staff were excellent. They even helped me by checking on my 74 year old dad who was waiting on me in the waiting room! They went above and beyond and I feel that I received excellent care.

I had my first visit to the IU Health ER last night. Three other family members have needed their ER services in the past, and the service is always the same. They are fast and efficient, and everyone is always very pleasant. Thank you for taking care of me quickly last night after Franciscan so badly dropped the ball.
