"IZMIRLYAN" Medical Center is the legal successor of the "Saint Nerses the Great" Scientific and Educational Center and the L. Nazarov Scientific and Research Institute of Proctology of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia. In 2000, the Institute was privatized by the Armenian General Benevolent Union. In 2001, it was donated to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the Saint Nerses the Great Scientific and Medical Center.

In 2012, the Medical Center was renamed "Izmirlian" Medical Center in honor of the great Armenian benefactor who made a great contribution to the re-equipment of the hospital. The Catholicos of All Armenians gave his blessing to Mr. and Mrs. Izmirlian for their religious and patriotic spirit, thanks to which, among many patriotic initiatives, the "Izmirlian" Medical Center project was also implemented.
