The Euryclides de Jesus Zerbini Transplant Hospital (HTEJZ) is the first public health center in Brazil specialized exclusively in organ and tissue transplants. It was re-inaugurated in 2010 under the management of SPDM and named in honor of Dr. Euryclides de Jesus Zerbini, the cardiac surgeon who performed Brazil’s first heart transplant. The hospital’s mission is to provide excellent, high-complexity healthcare, train and develop professionals, and uphold social and environmental responsibility, all in alignment with the principles of SUS. HTEJZ is a national reference in neurosurgery and vascular microsurgery, the largest national center in hematology and onco-hematology, the world’s largest center for complex kidney stone treatment, and the largest Latin American center for benign prostatic hyperplasia treatment
