Since our establishment in 1953, our hospital has been used by many people as Hokkaido Social Insurance Central Hospital and Hokkaido Social Insurance Hospital, but in April 2014, it made a new start as the Japan Community Healthcare Organization (JCHO) Hokkaido Hospital.
JCHO itself is a group of publicly-run hospitals that was created by unifying 57 hospitals nationwide, consisting of the three previous groups of Social Insurance Hospitals, Employee's Pension Hospitals, and Seamen's Insurance Hospitals, into a single new organization.
Our hospital has been making efforts to contribute to regional medical care, focusing on acute medical care from perinatal to adult and elderly patients. On the other hand, in consideration of the future super-aging society in Japan, we are focusing on early detection and prevention of diseases through medical checkups at the Health Management Center, as well as nursing and welfare practices aimed at returning patients to their homes at the affiliated nursing care facility for the elderly, and are playing a key role in implementing the regional comprehensive care system that Japan aims for in the region.
Please refer to the introduction pages for each center and department. As a Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare designated clinical training hospital, regional medical support hospital, Hokkaido cancer treatment cooperation hospital, and regional perinatal maternal and child medical center, we aim to provide high-quality medical care and nursing centered on the local people, to be a hospital that is trusted by the community, and to improve the training environment for medical professionals.
