About Us :

Nagykanizsa County City Hospital (Kanizsai Dorottya Hospital) was founded in 1769. The medical work divided into departments began in 1913, when the city hospital committee decided to establish internal medicine, obstetrics and surgery departments.

The hospital with a storied past has developed over the years, following a series of reconstructions and reorganizations, into a modern institution that meets the challenges of the times. Currently, with a total of 490 beds (348 active and 142 chronic), 19 inpatient departments, and in cooperation with the associated specialist clinics and 4 independent diagnostic units, the treatment of 110 thousand residents of Nagykanizsa and its associated micro-regions is underway. Our hospital receives patients 24 hours a day, with continuous diagnostic and therapeutic readiness.

Providing the necessary personal and material conditions for care in an unfavorable economic environment is a daily challenge and our institution – like other hospitals – fights its everyday battles to maintain its operational capacity, for professional success, to ensure the technical background and to achieve patient satisfaction. Effective work can only be achieved through the dedicated, professional work of its employees.

Many of our doctors and chief physicians also carry out outstanding scientific work and are nationally recognized. The scientific meetings, conferences and other professional events they organize are an important part of undergraduate and postgraduate training.

It can be said that there is no shortage of skilled workers. Our nurses and assistants are well-prepared and professionally trained to provide treatment to patients, providing an appropriate basis for high-quality professional work.
