In 1978, the Kaohsiung City Government rebuilt the former infectious disease hospital on Gushan 2nd Road into the Municipal Children's Hospital. In 1980, it was ordered to be restructured into a maternal and child hospital with eight departments and seven offices, providing 60 beds. In 1988, it moved from Gushan 2nd Road to Neiweipi, Zhonghua 1st Road, and was renamed Kaohsiung Municipal Maternal and Child General Hospital, with 300 acute general beds. In 2003, the Municipal Datong Hospital and the Maternal and Child Hospital merged into the Kaohsiung Municipal United Hospital, with 21 registered diagnosis and treatment departments and 500 acute general beds. In 2010, the resources of the two hospitals were integrated and concentrated in the Museum of Fine Arts campus, becoming the current Kaohsiung Municipal United Hospital. Our hospital currently has 22 registered diagnosis and treatment departments and is the only public-operated regional teaching hospital in North Kaohsiung. We uphold the service tenet of "health promotion and holistic service" to protect the health of the community residents. In order to provide the public with high-quality medical care services, our hospital actively formulates various management measures, strives for relevant funding, invests in major hardware and software construction, and recruits medical talents from various parties. In addition, we also cooperate with national policies and overall medical trends to develop community medicine and long-term care services, including discharge preparation services, home medical care, home rehabilitation and home nursing... and other services. At the same time, we reshape and strengthen the role of public health, strive to balance operational performance and public health, and work towards sustainable operation.
