Established on July 12, 1938, RSUD Labuang Baji is one of the oldest regional government hospitals in South Sulawesi. Initially founded as a mission hospital by the Gereformeerde Makassar Zending, it has evolved into a comprehensive healthcare facility serving both military and civilian populations. The hospital operates under the management of the Health Office of South Sulawesi Province and has undergone several transformations, including an upgrade from a Class C to a Class B Non-Educational Hospital in 1996.
