The hospital has an emergency department as well as clinics and wards in many different specialties. There is a maternity ward and a maternity hospital. After complicated births, mothers and babies can be offered lighter neonatal care.
Patients from large parts of Skåne come to Ystad for, among other things, intestinal operations, so-called colon surgery, and for male sterilization.
In total, around 1,000 people work here.

In my opinion this is the best hospital in Sweden . I gave birth 15 month ago in this hospital and I came all the way from MALMÖ. Today when my son was sick I took him as patient and again came all the way from MALMÖ. Every person in this hospital should be receiving an honor medal.
